Mimaki cutters can be setup in three (3) different ways depending on which model (series) you have.

CG Series III and CF2 Cutters
Must be set to use the Mimaki Port after the driver that was provided by the Mimaki has been installed and a Mimaki cutter has been added to the Vinyl Spooler.

This is easy to set up in the Vinyl Spooler. First make sure the cutter is switched on, has vinyl loaded and ready to cut a test file.

Next install the Mimaki driver that came with the cutter (if you haven't already done so) and open the Vinyl Spooler.

You can open the Vinyl Spooler from the File (menu) > Cut/Plot > Vinyl Spooler.

In the Vinyl Spooler, click on the:

  1. Connection tab (top right corner).
  2. Click Add and follow through the Setup Wizard or Gateway to add the series III or CF2 Mimaki model you have.
  3. Once installed restart the Vinyl Spooler and click on the Connection tab.
  4. Then from the Connection Method select Port Type > Windows Port from the drop down.
  5. Then in the Settings below select Mimaki Port.

Once this is completed the cutter should now work.

CG Series II and CF Cutters

You can open the Vinyl Spooler from the File (menu) > Cut/Plot > Vinyl Spooler.

In the Vinyl Spooler, click on the:

  1. Connection tab (top right corner).
  2. Click Add and follow through the Setup Wizard or Gateway to add the series II or CF Mimaki model you have.
  3. Once installed restart the Vinyl Spooler and click on the Connection tab.
  4. Then from the Connection Method select Port Type > Windows Port > Custom Port from the drop down.
  5. Then click Configure and in the Window that comes up click Refresh and you should see the Virtual Port Mimaki has assigned for the cutter. Select this and click OK.

Note: you may have to click on the drop down of other ports and refresh these until you locate Mimaki's Virtual Port.

Once this is completed the cutter should now work.
